High School Seniors Are Eligible- The DAR Good Citizens program and Scholarship Contest is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship. The program is open to all senior class students enrolled in accredited public or private secondary schools who are in good standing with their state boards of education. United States citizenship is not required.The DAR Good Citizen does not have to write an essay. They only write the essay if they are competing for the scholarship. |

The student selected as the school’s DAR Good Citizen must have the qualities of dependability (which includes truthfulness, loyalty, and punctuality); service (which includes cooperation, courtesy, and consideration of others); leadership (which includes personality, self-control, and ability to assume responsibility); and patriotism (which includes unselfish interest in family, school, community, and nation) to an outstanding degree. |

| DAR Good Citizen Scholarship Essay | Deadline Nov 15 | |
Scholarship application is separate and requires an essay, November 15 is the deadline to have the essay to the chapter. The essay topic is not disclosed until the student is ready to write the essay. There is a two hour time limit. Essay may be hand written or typed. No Reference or Resource material is allowed. |
