The First Ten Amendments
- Freedom of religion, speech, press, right to assemble, and right to petition the government
- Right to bear arms
- Troops may not be quartered in an individual’s home
- No search or seizure of an individual’s home
- Requires a grand jury indictment for crimes; no double jeopardy, do not have to testify against oneself, guaranteed due process of law
- Right to a speedy trial
- Right to trial by jury
- No excessive bail or cruel and unusual punishment
- Unlisted rights are not necessarily denied
- All rights not delegated to U. S. or denied to the States are reserved for the states.
