Upcoming Community Events

December brings us the opportunity to explore the new Amercian Revolution exhibit at the Applachian Museum. We will be hosting a Christmas Luncheon on
Dec 11 that will be absolutely wonderful in everyway. Cost is $16 and all the money goes to the museum.

The DAR Good Citizens Awards are trickling in, with three school having students compete for the scholarship.

There will be a Welcome Ceremony for the chapter new junior members on Nov 13. The meeting is open to women over age 18 interested in finding our more about the work of the chapter.

There will be a tea for the lady veterans of the Ben Atchley Veterans Hospital on November 6, 2010. There are 35 lady residents, two of who served in World War II as nurses. Corsages are being donated by Oak Ridge Floral Company. Food is being provided by the chapter members.

The Chapter is working with the Bumgartners to increase awareness of the David Hall Cabin, home of Anderson County American Revolution Patriot, David Hall

The Chapter is working with David Hackett to explore the possiblity of preserving the Emory Trace path that runs through Oak Ridge for a portion of the trail. The rich history of the trail would benefit the comminity financially by drawing in tourism and by reminding the community of the contributions of the Yuchi Indians to our life in Oak Ridge.

Alternative School Library
The Clinch Bend Chapter facilitated the donation of 96 cartons of books. Working with the Friends of the Library club and the Oak Ridge Library made this possible

 

Constitution Week- September 17-23

The Oak Ridge City School Board signed the Constitution Week Proclamation on Aug. 30, 2010.

The Oak Ridge City Council will be signing on September 13, all in preparation for the week long celebration of our country's Constitution.
